How it is used
- Formal "to tend toward / move in the direction of" a state - 局势趋于稳定 (júshì qūyú wěndìng) the situation is trending toward stability.
- Takes an abstract endpoint (趋于成熟 becoming mature, 趋于一致 converging), typical of written analysis, news, and reports.
- More formal and directional than 变得 (biàn de, to become); 趋于 stresses a gradual movement toward, not the finished result.
