How it is used
- A rule/regulation, or to stipulate - 按照规定 (ànzhào guīdìng) according to the rules; 公司规定不能迟到 (gōngsī guīdìng bù néng chídào) the company stipulates no lateness.
- Both noun and verb: 遵守规定 (zūnshǒu guīdìng) obey the rules.
- Contrast 规则 (guīzé), the rules of a game/system; 规定 is a specific stipulation laid down by an authority.
