How it is used
- Passive - reacting rather than taking initiative - 太被动了 (tài bèidòng le) too passive.
- Describes a stance where you're acted upon or on the back foot: 陷入被动 (xiànrù bèidòng) to be put on the defensive.
- Opposite of 主动 (zhǔdòng, proactive); also the grammar term for the passive voice - 主动帮忙 (zhǔdòng bāngmáng) offer to help.
