How it is used
- 街道 (jiēdào) is the general word for a street or avenue in a city, wider and more neutral than the bare 街 alone - e.g. 一条繁忙的街道 (yì tiáo fánmáng de jiēdào) - a busy street.
- It also names the lowest level of urban administration, a sub-district office (街道办事处), a common sense learners miss since English 'street' has no such meaning.
- Use the measure word 条 (tiáo), not 个: 这条街道 (zhè tiáo jiēdào), not 这个街道.
