How it is used
- Three uses. Adverb 'definitely, surely': 他肯定会来 (tā kěndìng huì lái) he'll definitely come. Adjective 'certain/sure': 我不太肯定 (wǒ bú tài kěndìng) I'm not quite sure.
- Verb 'to affirm/confirm/praise', opposite of 否定 (fǒudìng) negate: 肯定成绩 (kěndìng chéngjì) acknowledge the achievements - 否定的回答 (fǒudìng de huídá) a negative answer.
- As the adverb it's stronger and more confident than 也许/可能.
