How it is used
- The concrete thing - a share/stock you buy and hold - 我买了他们的股票 (wǒ mǎi le tāmen de gǔpiào) I bought their stock.
- 股票 is the tradable share; 股市 (gǔshì) is the whole market where they trade. You 炒股票 (chǎo gǔpiào) speculate in stocks.
- Measure word is 支 or 只 (zhī) for a given stock: 这只股票 (zhè zhī gǔpiào) this stock.
