How it is used
- Noun 'result/outcome' - 考试结果 (kǎoshì jiéguǒ) exam results; 没有结果 (méiyǒu jiéguǒ) came to nothing.
- Also a connector 'as a result / in the end (often unexpectedly)' - 我等了一小时，结果他没来 (wǒ děngle yì xiǎoshí, jiéguǒ tā méi lái) I waited an hour, and in the end he didn't show.
- That connector use often carries a note of the outcome being contrary to expectation. Contrast 后果 (hòuguǒ), which is specifically a bad consequence.
