How it is used
- A date (romantic) or an arranged appointment to meet - 今晚有个约会 (jīnwǎn yǒu ge yuēhuì) I have a date tonight.
- More social/personal than 预约 (yùyuē, to book, e.g. a doctor) or 会议 (huìyì, a meeting).
- Can be a verb: 我们约会吧 (wǒmen yuēhuì ba) let's go on a date. 约 alone also means 'to arrange to meet' (约朋友).
