- Disordered / thrown into disarray, of systems and functions - 内分泌紊乱 (nèifēnmì wěnluàn) endocrine disorder; 秩序紊乱 disrupted order.
- Formal/written and often medical or systemic; not used for a messy physical room (that's 乱/凌乱).
- Distinguish from plain 乱: 紊乱 implies a normally-regulated system malfunctioning.
