How it is used
- To steal by stealth, chiefly intangibles - 窃取机密 (qièqǔ jīmì) to steal secrets; 窃取个人信息 to steal personal data.
- Formal/written; for physical theft use 偷 (tōu) or 盗窃 (dàoqiè).
- Also figurative: 窃取权力 to usurp power, 窃取成果 to appropriate others' achievements.
