How it is used
- 'Indeed, really, truly' - confirms something is genuinely so: 他确实很努力 (tā quèshí hěn nǔlì) he really is hardworking.
- As an adverb it affirms a fact/agreement; as an adjective 'reliable, true': 确实的消息 (quèshí de xiāoxi) reliable news.
- Near 的确 (díquè), also 'indeed' - largely interchangeable, with 确实 slightly more common in speech.
