How it is used
- One after another, in succession - 嘉宾相继上台发言 (jiābīn xiāngjì shàngtái fāyán) the guests went up to speak one after another.
- An adverb for a sequence of similar events; more formal than 一个接一个. Contrast 陆续 (lùxù), which allows scattered intervals, while 相继 stresses close following.
