How it is used
- To mention two things in the same breath, as if equal - usually in the negative: 这两部电影根本不能相提并论 (zhè liǎng bù diànyǐng gēnběn bùnéng xiāngtí-bìnglùn) these two films simply can't be compared on the same level.
- The point is that lumping the two together is unfair or wrong; almost always with 不能/难以 to reject a false equivalence.
