How it is used
- To grow (of plants, animals, living things) / to grow up - 植物生长 (zhíwù shēngzhǎng) plants grow; 在农村生长 grew up in the countryside.
- Contrast 成长 (chéngzhǎng, to grow/mature, esp. people and abstract growth): 生长 is more biological/physical development, and note the reading is shēngzhǎng not shēngcháng.
