- Everyday life/living - 城市生活 (chéngshì shēnghuó) city life, 生活水平 (shēnghuó shuǐpíng) standard of living.
- Distinct from 生命 (shēngmìng), which is biological life (life vs death); 生活 is the way one lives day to day.
- Also a verb 'to live/subsist' - 在国外生活 (zài guówài shēnghuó) live abroad.
