How it is used
- The condition or state something is in right now - 电脑处于睡眠状态 (diànnǎo chǔyú shuìmián zhuàngtài) the computer is in sleep mode; 他状态很好 (tā zhuàngtài hěn hǎo) he's in great form.
- Common in sport, health, tech and mood contexts: 比赛状态 (competitive form), 精神状态 (mental state), 在线状态 (online status).
- Contrast 情况 (qíngkuàng, general situation/circumstances): 状态 is the internal condition of one thing; 情况 is the broader set of surrounding facts.
