- To be keenly devoted to / obsessed with an activity - 他热衷于炒股 (tā rèzhōng yú chǎogǔ) he's really into stock trading.
- Nearly always takes 于 + activity; stronger than 喜欢 (xǐhuan, to like) and often carries a faint whiff of over-eagerness or self-interest.
- Written register; can imply the person is preoccupied with pursuing status or gain.
