How it is used
- A tourist/sightseer - the person visiting a scenic spot: 景区禁止游客吸烟 (jǐngqū jìnzhǐ yóukè xīyān) tourists may not smoke in the scenic area.
- Contrast 旅客 (lǚkè), a traveler/passenger in transit (trains, planes), vs 游客 who is there to sightsee. 游 here is 游览 (yóulǎn) touring, not 游泳 (yóuyǒng) swimming.
