How it is used
- To rise in price - 汽油涨价了 (qìyóu zhǎngjià le) gas has gone up in price.
- 涨 reads zhǎng here (to rise); a separable verb: 涨了价 / 涨了不少价.
- Opposite of 降价 (jiàngjià, to cut prices); 涨价 = the price going up - 水果降价了 (shuǐguǒ jiàngjià le) fruit has got cheaper.
- For a currency or asset appreciating, 升值 (shēngzhí) is more precise; 涨价 is everyday price hikes.
