How it is used
- Appearance, look, or manner - 他的样子很累 (tā de yàngzi hěn lèi) he looks tired; 别装样子 (bié zhuāng yàngzi) stop putting on an act.
- Also 'the look of things / seems like': 看样子要下雨了 (kàn yàngzi yào xiàyǔ le) looks like it's going to rain.
- Neutral tone zi. Distinct from 外表 (wàibiǎo, outward appearance) - 样子 is looser, covering look, state, and demeanor.
