How it is used
- A collective term for trees / woodland - 山上树木茂盛 (shān shàng shùmù màoshèng) the mountain is thick with trees.
- It's a mass noun for trees in general; to count individual trees use 树 with 棵 (kē): 三棵树. Don't say 三棵树木.
- Slightly written; in speech 树 alone is common.
