- To look forward to / eagerly await, with a positive, hopeful tone - 我很期待这次旅行 (wǒ hěn qīdài zhè cì lǚxíng) I'm really looking forward to this trip.
- Contrast 等待 (děngdài, just to wait) and 希望 (xīwàng, to hope): 期待 adds anticipation and emotional investment.
