How to remember 无缘: 无 have not + 缘 reason = to have no opportunity.

How it is used
- To lack the fate/chance for something - 无缘相见 (wúyuán xiāngjiàn) not fated to meet, 无缘冠军 (wúyuán guànjūn) miss out on the title.
- Draws on 缘 (fate/affinity): the connection or opportunity just wasn't there. Often wistful. Also 无缘无故 (for no reason at all).
