- Fighting spirit / will to win - 斗志昂扬 (dòuzhì ángyáng) high-spirited and combative, 丧失斗志 (sàngshī dòuzhì) lose the will to fight.
- The morale/drive to compete or struggle, common in sports and adversity. Note reading dòu (to fight), not dǒu.
