- Mostly a noun: good breeding / manners from upbringing - 有教养 (yǒu jiàoyǎng) well-bred, 没教养 (méi jiàoyǎng) ill-mannered (an insult).
- As a verb, to raise and educate children. The noun sense (a person's cultivation and courtesy) is what you hear most; note reading jiào here, not jiāo.
