How it is used
- To make alterations, often small ones - 稿子只稍作改动 (gǎozi zhǐ shāo zuò gǎidòng) the draft was only slightly altered.
- Contrast 修改 (xiūgǎi, revise/correct): 改动 simply means changing things as they stand, without implying correction toward better.
