- To buy up in bulk, or to acquire/take over a company - 收购粮食 (shōugòu liángshi) procure grain, 收购公司 (shōugòu gōngsī) acquire a company.
- Two threads: large-scale/official procurement, and corporate takeover/acquisition (企业并购 M&A).
- Contrast 购买 (gòumǎi, ordinary purchase); 收购 implies buying up quantity or taking control.
