How it is used
- (1) To seize/grasp an opportunity or grasp the essence - 把握机会 (bǎwò jīhuì) seize the chance; (2) noun 'certainty/assurance' - 有把握 (yǒu bǎwò) be confident/sure.
- The 有/没有把握 pattern (sure / not sure of an outcome) is very common: 我没把握 I'm not certain.
- Figurative grasping (of chances, direction, key points), not physically holding - that's 握 or 抓.
