How it is used
- To score points, or the score itself - 他为球队得了两分 (tā wèi qiúduì dé le liǎng fēn) he scored two points for the team.
- 得 here is read dé ('to get'), not de or děi. As a verb-object it splits: 得了三分.
- Contrast 分数 (fēnshù), which is the score/grade as a number; 得分 is the act of scoring or the points earned.
