How it is used
- A film/movie, slightly formal - 一部影片 (yī bù yǐngpiàn) a film. Measure word 部 (bù).
- More written/print register than spoken 电影 (diànyǐng); you see 影片 in reviews, credits, and news. In Taiwan it can also mean a video clip.
- For the theatrical outing 'go see a movie' say 看电影, not 看影片.
