How it is used
- A preface/foreword to a book or document - 作者在序言中说 (zuòzhě zài xùyán zhōng shuō) the author says in the preface.
- Near 前言 (qiányán); 序言 (or just 序) is often written by someone else or the author to introduce the work.
- Distinct from 序幕 (the opening scene of an event); 序言 is text at the front of writing.
