How it is used
- A broadcast / to broadcast (esp. radio or PA) - 听广播 (tīng guǎngbō) listen to the radio; 广播电台 (guǎngbō diàntái) radio station.
- 广 (broad) + 播 (to sow/spread); the airport/school 广播 is the PA announcement.
- Contrast 播放 (bōfàng) 'to play (a video/audio)' and 直播 (zhíbō) 'livestream'; 广播 is the broadcast itself, especially radio and public announcements.
