How it is used
- "Clean, tidy" - 房间很干净 (fángjiān hěn gānjìng) the room is clean; 洗干净 (xǐ gānjìng) wash clean.
- Trap: 干 is read gān here (clean/dry), NOT gàn (to do/work). Same character, two readings - 干活 is gàn, 干净 is gān.
- Often a resultative complement after a verb - 吃干净 (chī gānjìng) eat it all up, 打扫干净 (dǎsǎo gānjìng) clean up thoroughly. Opposite is 脏 (zāng, dirty), 衣服脏了 (yīfu zāng le) the clothes are dirty.
