How it is used
- 'Often, frequently' before a verb - 他常常迟到 (tā chángcháng chídào) he's often late.
- Near-synonym 经常 (jīngcháng) is fully interchangeable and a touch more common in speech; 常常 has a slightly softer, reduplicated feel.
- Trap: don't negate as 不常常. Say 不常 (bù cháng) or 不经常 for 'not often.'
