How it is used
- Formal, written adverb marking near future - "will/is about to" - placed before the verb: 将要发生 (jiāngyào fāshēng) is about to happen.
- More formal than everyday 要 or 会; 将 alone can carry the same function in writing, and 将要 combines both for emphasis, often in news and formal announcements.
