- Kind-heartedness as a quality or motive - 好心人 (hǎoxīn rén) a kind person; 他是一片好心 (tā shì yí piàn hǎoxīn) he means well.
- Famous in 好心办坏事 (hǎoxīn bàn huàishì) to do harm with good intentions - stresses the doer's inner motive.
- Contrast 好意 (hǎoyì), which leans toward the kind gesture/offer itself; 好心 is more the disposition behind it.
