How it is used
- As dìfang (neutral tone), a place or spot - 这个地方很安静 (zhège dìfang hěn ānjìng) this place is quiet; also "part/aspect": 有的地方不懂 (some parts I don't get).
- Read as dìfāng (full tone), it means local/regional: 地方政府 (dìfāng zhèngfǔ) local government - the reading changes the meaning.
- For a precise location/venue, 地点 (dìdiǎn) is the exact-spot word.
