How it is used
- To fix in place / fixed, set, regular - 固定收入 (gùdìng shōurù) fixed income; 把梯子固定住 (bǎ tīzi gùdìng zhù) secure the ladder.
- Two uses: the verb (fasten so it can't move) and the adjective (regular/unchanging: 固定时间 set time, 固定搭配 fixed collocation).
- Opposite 流动 (liúdòng, floating/mobile) or 临时 (línshí, temporary) - 临时工作 (línshí gōngzuò) a temporary job.
