How it is used
- The throat, and by extension one's voice - 嗓子疼 (sǎngzi téng) a sore throat, 好嗓子 (hǎo sǎngzi) a good singing voice.
- Colloquial, covering both the physical throat and vocal quality. Contrast 喉咙 (hóulóng), which is purely the anatomical throat.
