How it is used
- To wake/rouse - literally 唤醒沉睡的人 (huànxǐng chénshuì de rén) wake a sleeping person, and figuratively 唤醒良知 (huànxǐng liángzhī) awaken one's conscience.
- Also the tech 'wake up' (from sleep mode). Stronger and more literary than plain 叫醒 (jiàoxǐng, to wake sb up).
