How it is used
- 'To hear', a resultative - 听 (listen) + 见 (perceive): 我听见了 (wǒ tīngjiàn le) I heard it.
- Marks the outcome, not the effort: contrast 听 (listen to) which is the activity. Insert 不/得 for potential: 听不见 (tīng bu jiàn) can't hear it. Near-twin 听到 (tīngdào) means the same.
