- Takes an abstract thing and means 'be on the receiving end of it' - 受到欢迎 (shòudào huānyíng) be well received, 受到影响 (shòudào yǐngxiǎng) be affected, 受到批评 (shòudào pīpíng) get criticized.
- Passive-flavored and somewhat formal; the object is usually an intangible (welcome, influence, punishment).
