How it is used
- 'To vow / swear / pledge' - 我发誓再也不迟到 (wǒ fāshì zài yě bù chídào) I swear I'll never be late again.
- A solemn personal oath about future conduct; stronger than 保证 (bǎozhèng, to guarantee/promise). The 誓 is a sworn oath.
