How it is used
- To worry/fret over something, feeling stuck - 为钱发愁 (wèi qián fāchóu) worry about money, 别发愁 (bié fāchóu) don't fret.
- A separable verb implying anxious brooding over a problem you can't easily solve; often 为/因……发愁.
- Colloquial; contrast 担心 (dānxīn, worry that something bad will happen) - 发愁 is more 'fretting over a burden'.
