How it is used
- Physical labor / work, often with a dignified or collective ring - 体力劳动 (tǐlì láodòng) manual labor; 劳动人民 (láodòng rénmín) the working people.
- Contrast plain 工作 (gōngzuò, a job/to work): 劳动 stresses the physical toil and effort, and carries political/moral weight (劳动光荣 labor is glorious).
