- To show or present something for inspection - 出示证件 (chūshì zhèngjiàn) show your ID; 出示证据 (chūshì zhèngjù) present evidence.
- Formal: it's producing a document/credential on request, not just showing something casually (which is 给...看).
- Common with officials, checkpoints, and courts.
