How it is used
- Everyday 'to look after / keep an eye on' someone - 请多关照 (qǐng duō guānzhào) 'please look after me / your kind consideration', a set polite phrase when meeting new colleagues.
- A second sense is 'to notify / tell': 关照他一声 (guānzhào tā yìshēng) give him a heads-up. Warmer and more informal than 照顾 for the caretaking sense.
