How it is used
- Literally to cash a check (把支票兑现 bǎ zhīpiào duìxiàn), but the everyday sense is figurative: to make good on a promise.
- 兑现承诺 (duìxiàn chéngnuò) to deliver on a commitment - 他没有兑现诺言 (tā méiyǒu duìxiàn nuòyán) he failed to keep his word.
- Contrast 兑换 (to exchange currency): 兑现 turns something (a check, a pledge) into reality/cash, it isn't a two-way swap.
