- Insurance; also 'safe/secure' as an adjective - 买保险 (mǎi bǎoxiǎn) to buy insurance; 保险起见 (bǎoxiǎn qǐjiàn) to be on the safe side.
- Measure word 份 (fèn) for a policy. Also literally a safety catch: 保险箱 (bǎoxiǎnxiāng) a safe.
- As adjective 'sure/secure': 这么做比较保险 (zhème zuò bǐjiào bǎoxiǎn) doing it this way is safer.
