- 'Numerous, a great many', a written intensifier before nouns - 众多粉丝 (zhòngduō fěnsī) numerous fans; 众多因素 (zhòngduō yīnsù) many factors.
- Only modifies count nouns for people/things; you can't say 众多水 for uncountables.
- More formal than 很多 (hěn duō, a lot); common in journalism and formal writing.
